The Camp Odyssey Leadership Team:
Dr. Harlan Eagle
Founder/Executive Director/Owner
Dr. Harlan Eagle, "Dr.Z." has been providing enriching, creative, and educational experiences for youth since 1981 and has taught in Wicomico County Public Schools since 1986. He holds a Doctorate in Education from the University of Maryland, in addition to a Master of Science from Indiana University, and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Delaware. He has founded and directed AWARD-WINNING summer programs, Camp Odyssey (1990), and Horizons Salisbury (2003-2015)). Camp Odyssey has been voted Metropolitan Magazines #1 Summer Camp since the award started in 2010 and meets the highest standards as evidenced by American Camp Association Accreditation. He has also founded: Beyond the Limits, The Tim Kennard River Run, eRace the Stigma, the Eastern Shore Lacrosse Club, and established the Queen & Princess Nerd Fund at the Community Foundation of The Eastern Shore in memory of Jamey Lee Griswold Landon and Brandy Starkey Terrill. He is an innovative educator who is always looking for new ways to provide positive experiences for youth and has been recognized for his service and leadership receiving national awards from the Association for Experiential Education (2005), Horizons National (2011), and Multiplying Good's Jefferson Award for Public Service (2019).
Chris Adkins
Director Green Hill/ Adventure Program
Chris Adkins has been a Camp Odyssey since 1999. His first camp experience was a bike trip on the C & O Canal and has been hooked since. He has been a Group Leader, Outdoor Adventure Specialist, founding Teen Camp Counselor, Teen Camp Director, Special Activity Coordinator, Assistant Director, Program Director and received the Selfless Sacrifice Award. He is currently a Director at Camp Odyssey at Green Hill. During the school year, Chris is the Athletic Director, a Physical Education Teacher, and Head Wrestling Coach at Snow Hill High School. He looks forward to every summer, bringing his daughters with him to camp and doing all things outdoors at Green Hill..
Audra Phippin
CAMP DIRECTOr @ WDS
Audra Phippin/ Queen A joined Camp Oydssey in the summer of 2006 as a Setting Sail Counselor, while her daughter got to enjoy camp as a camper. In 2009 she joined the Admin team and is currently Camp Director at WDS. She is beginning her 30th year of teaching at Beaver Run Elementary as a second grade teacher. She enjoys spending time at camp and with her family.
Sherry Saulitis
DIRECTOR OF GREEN HILL DAY CAMP
Sherry started at Camp Odyssey as the leader of the Art studio at WDS. Then she became a group leader at both WDS and Green Hill. She is currently one of the directors at Green Hill Day Camp. She has 2 children who were campers and have now joined camp staff as a counselor and CIT. When not at camp, she is a literacy coach in Wicomico County Public Schools. She enjoys reading and going to the beach.
Katie Serenyi
ASSISTANT CAMP DIRECTOR @ WDS
Katie Vincent Serenyi / Princess Katie has been with Camp Odyssey since she was 5 years old. She became a CIT after her many years as a camper, and became a counselor in 2004. Katie was a Group Leader for campers between the age of 8 and 13. “Katie V” spent the longest time with the TEENS (AKA Shark Group) for 10 summers! During this time, she moved up to the Teen Camp Director role and then became the CIT Director to help the teens transition into counselors. Now Princess Katie is the Assistant Camp Director at the WDS Camp. During her 15+ years at Camp Odyssey, she has been awarded the Hoge Caswell and the Selfless Sacrifice Award. Katie has taught Math at Salisbury Middle School for over 10 years, and became a new mom in the start of 2020.
Emily Hoffman Jones
Assistant Director @ WDS
Emily Hoffman Jones/ Princess Emily has also been with Camp Odyssey since she was 5 years old. Camp was something she looked forward to every year! She became a CIT and loved every minute of it then decided to become a counselor. She worked in Setting Sail, then the Marlins, and moved up to work with the Teens. Emily served as the Teen Camp Director and currently is in charge of our Counselor in Training Program and Special Activities. Emily has been recognized for her outstanding leadership and service by winning our CIT and Counselor of the Year Awards as well as our Selfless Sacrifice Award. When not at camp Emily teaches Math at Stephen Decatur Middle School and leads the youth program at her church.
Matt Ryan
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF GREEN HILL DAY CAMP
Matt Ryan is a Physical Education teacher in Wicomico County. He has been a counselor since 2016, and is now one of the directors for Green Hill. He enjoys running and playing tennis.
Kelly Clark
Assistant Director Green Hill
Born and raised in the shore, Kelly was once a camper herself at Camp Odyssey. She became a counselor later on and now one of the directors of Green Hill . When not working camp she is a kindergarten teacher at Chipman Elementary. It has been her home for the last 8 years. For fun she likes to go to the beach, play volleyball, catch up with friends and see the world through her son’s eyes.
Kathleen Hall
Special activities director / DIRECTOR OF ACCREDITATION AND STANDARDS
Kathleen Hall is a Kindergarten teacher, at St. Francis de Sales but during the summer gets to do many exciting activities. She has been a group leader in Setting Sails, One Fish, Two Fish, and helped in Sharks and Special Activities at our WDS camp and Green Hill camp. She has several camp names: Miss Kathaleen, Dr. Onefishhousen, Captain Kathleen, and now Captain K. For fun she enjoys watching baseball, and going to the beach and eating hamburgers because they taste better on the beach. She has worked at camp since 2013.
Barb Farrell
Director Emeritus
Barb Farrell has been a part of Camp Odyssey since it began in 1990. She started out as the 6 yr. old Group Leader then went on to become Assistant Director, then Associate Director. Barb (aka “Bad Barb”, then later “Queen B”) has helped with all aspects of camp over the years, including many summers of leading teens on a weeklong adventure of camping, white-water rafting, biking, and swimming in the mountains of western Maryland. Now she works with the American Camp Association and the Maryland State Health Department to ensure Camp Odyssey is compliant, not only in all areas of health and safety, but also in areas of programming, staff training, emergency response, supervision, certifications, and many more. Barb has worked in the Wicomico County school system since 1985 and is currently a middle school math intervention teacher.
Jeff Livingston
Director Emeritus
Jeff Livingston/ King Jeff has been part of the Camp Odyssey family since its inception in 1990. Jeff has worked as a C.I.T. (Counselor-in-Training), Group Leader, C.I.T. Program Coordinator, Assistant Director, and in his final three years (2005, 2008-2009), Day Camp Director. He is a 1st grade teacher in the Metro Richmond area of Virginia. King Jeff is enjoying the Virtual Camp Odyssey Adventure!
